Vandal Cuts Pipes From Beneath Home

Law enforcement officials were summoned to initiate an investigation early Tuesday when a resident of the Dunn/Leoma area discovered the plumbing pipes had been cut from beneath his home.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the 550 Dogwood Lane home around 6:00 a.m. The resident, age 72, told deputies that the vandalism had occurred overnight, sometime between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Deputies report that the culprit had damaged a section of the home’s underpinning in order to gain access to the plumbing.  Approximately twenty feet of plastic pipe, they report, was cut into short sections and left on the ground.

Deputies indicate that nothing appeared to be missing, and that no other damages could be detected.

Loss as a result of the crime was approximately $120.00.

Investigation into the crime is continuing through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information pertinent to the investigation is encouraged to contact the department at 762-3626.
