Bank Employee Discovers Counterfeit Bill

Law enforcement officers were called upon to investigate last week when a bank employee discovered a counterfeit bill had been passed there.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were called to Community Bank of Lawrence County around 4:00 p.m. Thursday. An employee reported that it was after she had pulled banded money from the vault that she made the discovery.

She reported that she ran the money through a counter and, as it was designed to do, it kicked out one $100 bill. She told officers she checked the bill and discovered that it was, indeed, counterfeit.

The clerk reported that the counterfeit bill had been taken from one of the bank tellers’ drawers. She said that they were unable to determine when or by whom the bill had been passed.

Investigation into the matter is currently on-going.
