Burglars Target Lawrenceburg Business

A Lawrenceburg business owner arrived Tuesday morning to find that his shop had been targeted by burglars.

Gary Sutton summoned Lawrenceburg Police Officers to Sutton’s Decorating Center, 302 Second Street, around 7:00 a.m. to investigate the crime.

Officers report that the perpetrator gained access to the building by knocking a panel out of a rollup door. The interior of the business was rummaged through, including drawers and brief cases. A door was broken off the safe and it, too, was searched.

The cash register was entered and approximately one hundred dollars worth of coins stolen. In addition, officers found that two ceiling tiles were broken. They speculate that the perpetrator was searching for hidden cash. In addition, a Grace silver paint gun was taken from a display behind the counter.

Total loss and damages were estimated to be $2,000. The case remains under investigation currently by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
