Thursday Morning Fire Destroys Five Points Home

A fire ravaged a home in the Five Points community Thursday morning, resulting in an approximate $60,000 loss.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the Moccasin Road home to battle the blaze. The resident reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies that she had left around 9:30 a.m. to go to nearby Mashburn’s Grocery. When she returned, she discovered that the home was already engulfed in flames.

According to reports, there was no power to the home at the time the fire ignited. The resident did indicate, however, that she had smoked a cigarette, and that she had burned candles.

Fire Investigator Shayne Adams with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department has been called upon to investigate the source of the fire.
