Gibson Enters Guilty Plea To Vehicular Homicide In Connection With Teen Deaths

A Lawrenceburg man indicted on vehicular homicide charges in connection with a
November crash that claimed the lives of two local teens, has opted to enter a guilty plea rather than stand trial.

Misty McWhorter, 17, of Leoma, and Devin Prince, 15, of Lawrenceburg died as a result of injuries they sustained in the November 26, 2010 crash.

According to reports filed through the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the single vehicle crash occurred around 9:00 p.m. near the crossroads on Fall River Road.

At the time of the crash troopers reported that driver Terry Michael Gibson, 24, of 211 Davis Street, was northbound when he lost control of the 1999 Pontiac Grand Am in a curve.

The car reportedly left the roadway, Gibson overcorrected, ran off the roadway a second time, then struck a mailbox and a fence.

Gibson sustained injuries in the crash, as did passengers Blake Clem, 15, and Sarah Burkes, 21, of Summertown. All three were airlifted from the scene.

Gibson entered a guilty plea through Lawrence County Circuit Court on two counts of vehicular homicide, one count of vehicular assault, and one count of introduction of contraband into a penal facility.

Under the agreement reach, Gibson is to serve 15 years incarcerated through the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
