Another Resident Reports Fraud Attempt

Law enforcement officers are being asked to look into more and more instances of telephone harassment most of which are tied to some type of scam or another, and Tuesday was no exception.

A resident of Bumpas Road reported to Lawrenceburg Police Officers that she had received three harassing calls during the morning. She said that a man who identified himself as “James Williams” called, saying he represented the “Claims Department.” He failed, however, to identify the agency he represented.

The victim said that after the second call she instructed the man not to call again, but that he quickly called back. Using words that were both threatening and derogatory he told her “you are going to listen to what I have to say or else I will shoot you in the face…”

The investigating officer indicated that the calls had originated in Jamaica. The investigation is on-going.
