Ethridge Woman Charged With Operating Meth Lab At Alabama Campground

An Ethridge woman was one of two individuals apprehended by Alabama authorities for operating a meth lab at a TVA campground.

Members of the Lawrence County Alabama Drug Task Force initiated the investigation after receiving a tip from another camper regarding possible illegal drug activity at the site.

Agents attempting to make a stop on the couple’s vehicle reported that the passenger tossed a bag from the window. When it was retrieved, officers found it contained ingredients to manufacture methamphetamine. Inside the vehicle, officers report seizing marijuana along with items of drug paraphernalia. Agents then made their way to the couple’s Moulton, Alabama campsite and report finding a meth lab.

As a result of the operation Bobby Joe Burchell, Jr., age 35, of 1075 Rose Hill Road, Pulaski, and Mary Lynn Chaney, age 37, of 308 Lincoln Street, Ethridge, were arrested on charges of first-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both are held without bond at the Lawrence County, Alabama Jail.
