Business Officials Report Vandalism And Theft

Criminals have targeted at least two businesses in past days, situated in opposite ends of the county.

Officials with Loretto Telephone Company reported yet another instance of vandalism, at a telephone box located on Bluff Road in the St. Joseph area. Officials reported Tuesday to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies that vandals used a firearm to shoot the box. The bullet, they reported, was stopped inside the box by a notebook, allowing damages to be confined to the door only. Damages were said to total $600.

Sometime between Saturday and Tuesday, sheriff’s department reports show that burglars broke into Granny’s Quilt Shop, located on Monument Road in Summertown.

Deputies were unable to determine the point of entry. Reports show that all the doors were found to be locked.

Three handmade quilts were listed among the items stolen. Loss was estimated to be in excess of $400.
