Lawrenceburg Commission To Consider Numerous Agenda Items Thursday

Members of the board that governs the City of Lawrenceburg are scheduled to meet in regular session Thursday evening to consider several items of business.

Commissioners are slated to consider on second and final reading an ordinance allowing the rezoning of a parcel of property owned by L.H. and Nancy Magee, situated at the South Locust Avenue/McDowell Street intersection. The rezoning is being considered in order to allow for the opening of a liquor store.

Commissioners will consider approval of a grant agreement that would allow for the construction of restrooms at the soccer fields at Bobby R. Brewer Memorial Park. The State of Tennessee Community Enhancement Grant would be administered through the Lawrenceburg Department of Parks and Recreation.

A resolution is up for consideration that would allow an increase in the amount of funds received by the city through a state grant. The resolution would increase from the current amount of $401,194 to $630,687, funds to be received by the city for use in replacing a box culvert at the E.O. Coffman Football Field. The field was rendered unusable by flooding in May of 2003, but will be usable once again once the city is finished with it’s current multi-million dollar flood control project.

A resolution appears on Thursday’s agenda that would allow items at the Lawrenceburg Police Department to be declared as surplus and therefore eligible for sale.

Commissioners will consider approving a grant agreement for the Lawrenceburg Police Department.

Finally, commissioners will be asked to approve a lease-purchase agreement for a roll-off truck for the city’s Sanitation Department. If approved, Acting City Administrator Ken Hinson will be authorized to solicit bids on the truck, then accept the bid on the best vehicle.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will get underway at 6:00 p.m. Thursday inside the commission meeting room of the Lawrenceburg City Administration Building.
