Summertown Resident Reports Four Wheelers And Trailer Stolen

A Summertown resident requested that local law enforcement officials initiate an investigation last week after he failed to receive his trailer back from a LaVergne man who wanted to purchase his four wheelers.

The resident of Summertown’s Highway 20 explained the situation to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies, indicating that he had listed the two Polaris four wheelers for sale on the internet site “Craig’s List.”

According to the victim the four wheelers were to be purchased by Brad Turner of Highland Drive, LaVergne. The victim made arrangements to meet Turner in Mt. Pleasant on May 22 in order to complete the transaction. When he arrived, the victim indicates Turner had no means of transporting the four wheelers.

Since he had conducted such transactions with Turner in the past without incident, the victim told deputies he allowed him to take the four wheelers on the trailer he had borrowed from his father, with the understanding that he would return the trailer to him.

Since that date, the victim reported he had been unable to get in touch with Turner to retrieve the trailer. In addition, he told deputies that Turner had not paid him for the four wheelers.

Deputies report they made attempts at the time of the report to make contact with Turner, but that “he would not answer his cell phone.”

Investigators were able to contact Turner by phone on July 16. They explained the situation, informing Turner that he had until Tuesday, July 22, to make arrangements to return the victim’s property. On Friday, July 25, they indicate they had heard nothing further from Turner. As a result, investigators have referred the case for prosecution.
