Charges Sought Against Employee Who Sold Inventory On Ebay

Charges are being sought against an employee of the Lawrenceburg business Game Play, for allegedly stealing from the store’s inventory, then selling the items on ebay.

Lawrenceburg Police Chief Terry Shay issued a press release on Thursday, indicating that charges of theft over $1,000 are being sought against employee Cecil W. Myrick, 26, of 10 North Keener Road, Leoma.

Game Play owner Donnie Keys reported July 12 that a large amount of his inventory was missing from the 1620 North Locust Avenue business. He indicated that some $9,141.48 worth of merchandise, including various types of game systems and hundreds of games, had been taken from the stock room from March through July.

While looking at the popular ebay auction website, Keys told detectives he located a large number of items for sale that he believed had been stolen from his store.

Shay reported Thursday that during the course of their investigation, detectives ultimately conducted a search of Myrick’s home. Inside, they report finding property that had been stolen from Game Play, along with other evidence linking Myrick to the crime. Shay stated, “Myrick had taken the property from the business in an attempt to sell the merchandise on ebay.”

According to Shay, detectives were able to recover approximately $1,000 worth of Keys’ property.

Evidence against Myrick will be presented to the Lawrence County Grand Jury.
