Lynnville man jailed for assaulting ex’s family members
Lawrenceburg Now
Law enforcement officials report that a Lynnville resident was arrested late last week after allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend’s family members.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to a home on Buffalo Road to intervene in a physical altercation involving weapons just after 5:30 p.m. Friday. Reports show that just before they arrived at their destination, officers met a black Chevrolet Tahoe that was leaving the scene at an estimated speed of eighty miles per hour.
The victim, along with her stepfather and stepbrother reported that her ex-boyfriend had come to the home, demanding that she repay money he had spent when he took her out to eat the previous week, prior to the breakup.
The twenty-four year old ex-girlfriend, a resident of Lewisburg, reported that she had been at a relative’s home when the incident occurred. She said that when her ex, twenty-three year old Bradley Dean Parker of 1125 Main Street, Lynnville, arrived and demanded she hand over $50 she did not possess, she locked herself inside of her car. She said that he attempted to gain entry by pulling on the window, which resulted in damage to both the window and door frame.
The stepfather and stepbrother reported that they had witnessed the attack and moved to intervene. The stepfather, who is forty-four, told officers that Parker struck him in the face with his fist and knocked him to the ground. He said that Parker went to his vehicle and retrieved a pocket knife, walked back toward them with the blade open, then began to threaten them. They said that once he was informed that police officers were en route, Parker “left the residence at a high rate of speed” in an attempt to elude police.
Officers noted that no injuries were reported by any of those involved.
Officers stopped Parker’s vehicle at a parking lot on Liberty Avenue shortly afterwards. When asked why he had fled the scene, he allegedly told officers, “I got real scared and knew I had messed up.” He denied any wrongdoing. He said he had come to collect money owed to him by his ex-girlfriend and that once he arrived at her location he was attacked by her stepfather who was wielding a baseball bat. He said that while swinging the bat he had caused damage to his vehicle. He told officers that he “never had his knife out” during the incident.
As a result of the initial investigation, Parker was placed under arrest on charges of vandalism, evading arrest, and three counts of aggravated assault. He was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center under a bond of $32,000.
Parker has been scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on August 8, 2016.
