Daughter Discovers Insurance Deduction For Canadian Company

A Leoma woman requested that an investigation be initiated Monday after she discovered an odd deduction from her parents’ bank account.

The woman reported that due to health issues she had been assisting her parents with their financial paperwork. While looking over a bank statement, she said she noticed a recurring deduction by Victoria Fire and Insurance PREM 3, of Canada.

The woman indicated her parents knew nothing about the deduction. She told deputies she searched thoroughly, but was unable to locate an insurance policy bearing the company name.

The deputy reports contacting the company by telephone. A representative informed him that they do not insure anyone in the United States, only in Canada.

Payments to the company were stopped. Loss as a result of the apparent case of identity theft is said to total $1,212.00.
