Peeping Tom Apprehended Following Foot Chase

A man caught standing on a chair, peeping through the bedroom window of a Caperton Avenue resident was apprehended Thursday night after leading police officers on a foot chase.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to the victim’s home shortly after 10:00 p.m. Reports show that the victim had noticed sounds outside her home and looked out to find a stranger standing inside her screened-in porch.

She told officers she ran into her bedroom and placed a 911 call. While she was speaking with a dispatcher from Lawrence Central Dispatch, she indicated she heard someone in the bushes outside her bedroom window.

When officers arrived on the scene they encircled the home. They report finding the man standing beneath the bedroom window beside a chair. Reports show the chair, which had been moved from the front porch, had dirty footprints on it and the cushion had been removed and placed atop a bush.

Officers report when the man saw them he ran away, heading around a garage and down an alley. They pursued on foot through a driveway and onto Park Avenue. They report he ran south through several front yards before officers took him to the ground.

Billy Wayne Ballinger, 41, of 1114 Roberts Avenue was arrested on charges of observation without consent as well as aggravated burglary for entering the porch area without permission.

Ballinger will answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on August 5, 2011.
