Amber Alert Hoax Caller Facing TBI Charges

Nashville, TN- Today the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has charged the hoax 911 caller who caused authorities in Tennessee and Missouri to issue AMBER Alerts last week with Filing a False Report.

A 14-year-old girl from Caruthersville, MO has been issued two juvenile petitions for calling a Dyer County 911 dispatcher claiming she and her 10-year-old sister had been kidnapped by a 57-60 year old white male and were being molested in red or burgundy Chevy Suburban on July 16, 2009.

Tennessee authorities issued an AMBER Alert for “Latrice Watson” after two calls were place to Dyer County dispatch.

Two more prank calls followed, and were handled by the Pemsicot County, MO 911 center.

It was determined there were no missing children in either state and the AMBER Alert was canceled the following morning.

There are other individuals who can be heard on the 911 recordings, but their identities have not been determined.

Additional charges against the girl or others may follow after the investigation is complete. Law enforcement will also be seeking restitution against the suspects for investigative expenses.

The Missouri girl has an appearance scheduled in the Juvenile Court of Dyer County on August 12, 2009.
