Burglar Caught In Act

A Lawrenceburg man was arrested on Monday, allegedly caught in the act of burglarizing an Ethridge property.

Thomas Patrick White, age 36, was taken into custody at the Highway 43 North property shortly after 6:00 p.m.

A deputy with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department met with the property owner who reported finding an abandoned truck. While speaking with the owner, deputies report that White walked out of a house on the property, with a piece of property in-hand.

When the deputy made contact with him, he reports that White dropped the item, a set of chrome valve covers. He reportedly offered an apology, saying that he had taken the items in an effort to make some extra money.

Several other items were found next to White’s truck including a distributor, aluminum wheel, two cam shafts, five scrap radiators, a five-foot steal braided line, and a Holley carburetor. The items, which had also been stored inside the residence, had a combined value of approximately $1,450.

White was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center without further incident. He was booked under charges of aggravated burglary, theft over $500, and vandalism. Bond was set at $34,000.

White has been scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on August 20, 2013.
