A Tennessee Highway Patrol Aviation pilot responded to a plane crash where he began a search for survivors.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported that on Wednesday THP Aviation Pilot, Lieutenant Brad Lund, was requested to assist the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office in the search for a possible airplane crash, and survivors.

Lieutenant Lund flew his THP Jet Ranger Helicopter to the scene where he conducted an aerial search for the crashed plane, and an emergency locator transmitter beacon was detected.

Lund was able to locate the crashed plane where he directed first responders to the site, and they discovered the pilot near the downed plane.

The pilot who was the only occupant that was in the plane was injured, but had luckily survived the crash.

First responders had the pilot lifeflighted to a nearby hospital where he is currently said to be recovering from his injuries.
