Alarm Company Prevents Burglary

Notification by a security alarm company may have allowed local law enforcement officials to arrive at the scene of an attempted burglary incident overnight Saturday, before the culprits had an opportunity to gain access to the building.

Lawrence Central Dispatch was notified of the attempted burglary around 3:44 Sunday morning by officials with Security Alarms Company. Officials with the company indicated that an alarm had been tripped at Tobacco Outlet, 1960 North Locust Avenue, that signified glass breakage.

When Lawrenceburg Police Officers arrived a few moments later, they report the culprits had already fled the scene.

Officers reported that the drive-through window had been busted. They discovered a wooden block wrapped in a towel, lying in the middle of the floor of the drive-through area.

The manager quickly arrived on the scene. After taking a look around he told officers that nothing appeared to be missing.

Investigation into the crime is continuing currently through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone with relevant information should contact the department at 762-2276.
