Lawrenceburg Woman Reports Extortion Attempt, Threats From Caller

A Lawrenceburg woman summoned law enforcement officers to her home Tuesday after receiving telephone calls during which a man issued threats and attempted to coerce money from her.

The victim reported she had received three separate telephone calls from a man who identified himself as “Shawn Parker.” She said that Parker demanded she send him $1,500, else “things would start to unfold.” Parker gave her a telephone number and ordered that she or her attorney call him back.

The investigating sheriff’s deputy reports he called the number the victim had been given and began to ask the man about his demands. He reports that the man demanded his badge number and the name of his department, then promptly hung up.

Investigation into the matter has now been turned over to detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
