Charges Being Sought Against Customers Who Returned Store Merchandise For Refund

Officials at Walmart have reported several instances recently during which persons attempted to obtain cash refunds for merchandise picked up inside the store, for which they had not paid.

After reviewing security footage on June 28 officials with the store's Loss Prevention department requested that a criminal report be taken by officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department.

They reported finding that a thirty-seven year old Lawrenceburg man had picked up several food items then, without paying for them, took them to the service desk and tried to get a refund.

They said that when the transaction began to take some time, the man appeared to become nervous, put the items into a bag, and left before receiving the cash. They said he left the store without paying for the items, which had a  combined value of $29.71.

In the same manner Loss Prevention officers reported that on June 22 two local women were found to have come into the store and picked up a swimming pool.

They then took the pool to the service desk where one of them asked to return it for a refund. They said the woman was able to obtain a gift card in the amount of $53.65.

Store officials said that they would be seeking prosecution against these individuals.
