Recovery Of Property Ties Crime To Recent Burglary Spree

A piece of property recovered on Tuesday raises the number of burglary/theft incidents reported in the vicinity of Second Street during a recent rash of crimes.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department report recovering several pieces of property that had been discarded in a yard in the wake of the crimes. They discovered that an additional crime had been committed when they recovered a cell phone that belonged to an individual who had not reported it stolen.

Officers contacted the owner, a resident of Second Street, to report the find. He told them that the telephone had been inactive for an extended period of time, but that he had left it inside his truck.

Officers report that the victim always parks his truck in his driveway. Based upon the facts that it was found with other stolen property and the owner lives within the area where the other crimes occurred, the crime was added to the previous investigation. Officers speculate that the phone was stolen around 10:00 p.m. on July 11.

The victim reported there were no damages to his truck and that nothing else appeared to be missing.
