Driver Assaulted While Stopped At Intersection

   A motorist quickly contacted Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies Sunday to report he had been assaulted while stopped at an intersection in the Iron City area.

   The victim, age 36, told deputies that it was around 12:15 p.m. when he stopped at the West Second /Poplar Street intersection and noticed another motorist blocking his path.

   The victim said that the other motorist, Scott Logan Rhodes, 40, of 106 Donkey Road, Iron City exited his vehicle and began punching him in the face. He said that Rhodes pulled him out of his truck, causing damage to the door.

   The victim said he and Rhodes began to fight in the roadway. During the altercation Rhodes allegedly stole the victim’s wallet.

   Deputies noted the victim had sustained cuts to both knees as well as a busted lip.

   Rhodes was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was booked on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated robbery and vandalism. He is to answer the charges in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on August 8, 2011.
