Authorities Investigate Crimes In Second Street Area

Lawrenceburg authorities are working to identify a suspect in a spree of crimes reported in past days by residents of Second Street.

A local man reported Friday that someone had burglarized his 2003 Ford F150 overnight Thursday, while it was parked at a friend’s house at 408 Second Street. He indicated that he had parked the vehicle around 10:00 p.m.

Later he found that someone had entered the truck, which had been left unlocked, and rummaged through various compartments. He said that he found blood inside where the perpetrator had cut himself on a razorblade he kept in the glove compartment. He told officers that nothing appeared to be damaged or missing.

A resident at 518 Second Street later reported that her 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier had been burglarized while parked in her driveway. She told officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department that her Bank of America credit card and a pack of cigarettes was all that was missing.

Officers report that what appeared to be dried blood was found on various parts of the interior.

Dried blood was also found inside a vehicle that had been parked at 522 Second Street. There, the resident told officers someone had entered his Dodge Dakota, taking only some of his personal mail.

On Sunday a resident of 405 Second Street reported burglars had targeted her outbuilding. She said that she had heard noises around 4:30 a.m. that sounded like a vehicle.

She said that she went outside to check and heard the noise moving away from her. She found that her outbuilding had been opened.

Missing were a Craftsman weed eater, Craftsman cordless tool set, Eastwing hammer, and Stanley tape measure with a combined value of $500. Officers report that a padlock was missing from the rear of the building

Officers were called back to 408 Second Street on Monday after a resident returned home to find a stranger inside his wife’s car. He reported that when he pulled into the driveway the stranger saw him, then fled on foot.

He told officers that he gave chase, pursuing the stranger to an alley that runs between Third and Fourth Streets. He lost sight of the suspect in the 500 block area.

The resident discovered that the car’s Sony Explode CD player had been broken, but that nothing appeared to be missing.
