Rifles And Jewelry Targeted By Thieves

   A burglary who broke into a home on Valley Road late last week reportedly targeted the residents’ firearms and jewelry.

   James Raborn Deatherage, 61, summoned Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies to his 76 Valley Road home Friday to report the break in.

   According to reports, the perpetrator broke the bottom half out of a rear window in order to gain access to the interior of the home. Once inside, the thief took a Remington 12 gauge shotgun and a 30.06 Winchester rifle with a scope, from a closet. The thief also prowled through a jewelry box, taking numerous items, including a turquoise necklace set, diamond engagement ring, and peal necklace. Loss was estimated to total $2,950.

   At the present time the case remains under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information regarding the crime is urged to contact the department at 931-762-3626.
