Units Targeted At Storage Facility

Units on one side of a local storage facility, not readily in the view of the public, were targeted by thieves last week.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched around 6:00 p.m. Friday to the facility, located at 5003 U.S. Highway 43 North, Summertown.

Deputies report that thieves had targeted units located on the back side of the facility, hidden from the view of passing motorists.

Deputies found that locks had been cut and were lying on the ground next to the corresponding units.

One victim reported that the only items stored inside the unit he rents were two oil heaters. Both were missing.

Another reported that a green, six-foot, fiberglass ladder had been stolen along with eight fishing poles and reels, a tackle box, bumper jack, and a battery charger. Total loss was approximately $1,050.

Investigation into the thefts is on-going at the present time.
