NEW INDUSTRIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: PRECISION LASER, INC. TO CREATE 153 JOBS IN LAWRENCE COUNTY

Lawrenceburg, TN – July 14, 2008 – Precision Laser, Inc. based in Manitoba, Canada has chosen Lawrenceburg for its United States headquarters creating 153 new jobs.

Precision Laser will manufacture a wide range of steel components starting with furnaces and other industrial equipment and will also operate custom laser cutting operations.  They will have the capabilities to custom cut, form, and weld steel and other metals.  Precision Laser currently does work for the heat, oil, farming, and mass transit industries.  Their facility will be located at 80 Motivation Drive in Lawrenceburg.  The company will invest between $6-8 million in new, state-of-the-art equipment for this facility.

“We are extremely excited about opening our Lawrence County location,” said Irwin Kornelsen, CEO, Precision Lasers USA, Inc.  “During our prior visits we have been attracted to the area for its sense of community and its people.  We look forward to living and working here, and enjoying the neighborhoods, schools, state park, golf courses, restaurants, and the rest of the attractions here. In addition to the wonderful aspects of your community, your officials are to be commended for their ‘team like’ approach in promoting Lawrence County for industry.  We truly found the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce to be a ‘one stop shop’ for all of our questions and concerns as we learned about the many aspects of doing business here.  The city and county officials worked in unison and impressed us from our first meeting.  Speed was also of the essence in making this project happen and your officials met every request in the timeliest of manners.  Your existing industry leaders have bragged about the area’s workforce which is vitally important to us since we are to hire more than 150 people.  Also of importance to us was finding a great place to raise our children, and we found no better place in looking throughout the country than Lawrence County, Tennessee.  We look forward to getting involved in the community and being a corporate citizen whom you will be proud of.  Thank you for the warmth, hospitality, swift action, and business friendly attitude we have experienced over the past few months!”

“Bringing jobs to our county is the chief reason that I ran for office,” said Paul Rosson, Lawrence County Executive.  “Jobs are vital to the success of our community.  Today’s announcement is a major accomplishment for Lawrence County and is an example of how working together great things will happen.  We are committed to bringing jobs to our county and working with our existing companies to expand job growth.  Today is a wonderful day and we are very blessed to have Precision Laser coming to Lawrence County.”

“On behalf of our entire business community, I wish to issue a hearty welcome to Precision Lasers,” said Chad Chancellor, Executive Director, Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. “Amazing things happen when we as an entire community work together.  The recruitment of Precision Laser is such an example.  I cannot begin to tell you how many different people or different entities touched this project during the past four months as we heavily recruited Precision Laser.  To each of you who played a role, a sincere Thank You!  The city, county, utilities, and state officials worked beautifully together to encourage Precision Laser to select Lawrence County.  In addition, our business community and public leaders went out of their way to help us close this deal and create these jobs.  I sincerely believe we will all be amazed at what we can accomplish if we continue to work together as a team and for the common good of our community.  Indeed, ‘TEAM LAWRENCE’ as I like to call us rose to the occasion and has aided in creating 153 new jobs!”

Starting wages for new hires will be in the $10-13 an hour range with some positions paying more.  Precision Laser will hire over 130 manufacturing employees and 20 office/management employees over a 3-year period of time.  Positions will be hired in teams of 25-50 until all opportunities have been filled.  The company intends to begin operations in mid-September.

“On behalf of the City of Lawrenceburg, we excitedly welcome Precision Laser, Inc. and their 153 jobs to our area,” said Keith Durham, Lawrenceburg Mayor.   “I believe our finest hour is ahead of us and with announcements such as this we may be rapidly approaching that hour!  The entire city stands ready to assist Precision Laser in their start-up process and looks forward to working with them to grow their business in the years to come.”

“I believe today’s news is particularly exciting considering the economic news you hear about around the country and region,” said Chad Chancellor.  “To be growing jobs for our county just as other parts of our state, region, and country are losing jobs makes our case to recruit industry evermore stronger.  Being a viable option for industrial development during times like these should make us a superb option when the nationwide economy begins to make progress.”
