Peaches And Eggs Stolen From Ethridge Farm

An Ethridge couple was astonished last week to discover that someone had stolen the peaches from their peach tree and the eggs from their chickens.

The couple reported the incident on Wednesday through deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. They indicated they had been waiting for the peaches to ripen on their peach tree so that they could harvest this year’s yield. Altogether, they estimated they were anxiously awaiting the harvesting of about a bushel of the fruit. They had last checked the fruit, they said, they day before.

When they went to check the peaches Wednesday afternoon, the victims say they were surprised to find the entire harvest was missing. Someone, they said, had apparently picked the fruit while they were away.

While checking about their premises, the couple also discovered that the eggs had been collected from their hens. They reported they are currently collecting 6 to 8 eggs per day from their flock. On this date, however, someone apparently collected them in their absence.

The couple indicated they were uncertain who could have stolen the items. They did report, however, that one neighbor had acted excessively interested in their grape crop.

Investigation into the incident is continuing at the current time through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
