Boyfriend Stabbed During Weekend Altercation

A local resident told authorities that her son had stabbed her boyfriend during a dispute at her Belew Drive home Saturday afternoon.

Units with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were initially dispatched to 399 Belew Drive around 1:45 p.m. on an “unwanted person” call. The female resident told officers that she no longer wished for her son, age 28, to reside with her. In response, officers advised the woman about the process necessary to obtain an eviction notice.

Officers left the scene, but were summoned back around forty-five minutes later to investigate a stabbing.

When they arrived a second time the resident explained that her son had become agitated following their departure, and had begun cursing. She reported that he got his knife and placed it, sheathed, at his waist. When her boyfriend began to leave, she said her son followed him to his truck. He reportedly stabbed the boyfriend while he was sitting in the driver’s seat. The boyfriend then left the scene, driving himself to the emergency room at Crockett Hospital for medical attention.

Following the stabbing the son reportedly fled from the scene on foot, heading into a nearby wooded area. He later returned to a neighbor’s home where he was placed under arrest.

The son, Brian Keith Martin, 28, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. He is scheduled to answer the charge through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on August 6, 2009.
