One of three runaways from Spring Hill boy’s home apprehended following local police pursuit, crash
Lawrenceburg Now
One of three runaways from a Spring Hill boy’s home was apprehended following a pursuit by local law enforcement officers Sunday evening, after he crashed a stolen car.
Information released through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department shows that deputies were dispatched to the Summertown Quik Mart area after a tip was received regarding the whereabouts of the boys, who had escaped last week. They received information indicating that the teens were traveling in two vehicles – one reported stolen in Lawrenceburg, the other in Mt. Pleasant.
When they arrived in the vicinity, deputies report that they were able to locate one boy driving the stolen Mt. Pleasant vehicle. They attempted to initiate a traffic stop, however they report that the boy fled rather than stop. Deputies began to pursue the car into Maury County, gaining assistance from the Maury County Sheriff’s Department and Mt. Pleasant Police Department. The boy crashed the vehicle in the area of Highway 50 and was subsequently apprehended. Deputies report that no injuries resulted from the crash.
Once they had returned to Lawrence County, deputies were notified that the remaining two runaways had been spotted on Highway 20 in Summertown, near First Volunteer Bank. By the time they arrived at the location, they report finding that the stolen 2005 Mercedes, which was still running, had been abandoned and that the boys had fled on foot.
Deputies conducted a search of the area, but report that they were unable to locate the remaining two runaways at that time. Anyone who has information regarding the whereabouts of the runaways is urged to contact law enforcement officials as quickly as possible.
