Woman Finds Estranged Husband Hiding Inside Car

A woman reported to police officers last week that when she was getting into her car after work, she found her estranged husband hiding in the back seat.

James Joseph Stackpole, 21, of 103 Horn Avenue, Loretto was booked through the Lawrence County Detention Center Thursday night on charges of domestic assault, burglary and vandalism in connection with the call.

Lawrenceburg Police Officers spoke with the victim at Shoney’s on North Locust Avenue. She reported she had been leaving work and was about to get into her car when she noticed Stackpole inside. She told officers she ran back toward the building and that he chased her all the way inside.

Coworkers reported the victim remained in back while they made Stackpole leave. They said that after he left the building he got back inside the victims car and began throwing items inside the vehicle and onto the parking lot. They said he then walked away.

Officers report that shortly after the victim got back to her apartment Stackpole showed up there, asking that she come outside. When the officer arrived at the apartment he was taken into custody.

Stackpole is scheduled to answer the charges in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on August 4, 2011.
