Assistant Police Chief Retires

After serving the citizens of the City of Lawrenceburg for some thirty-five years, Neal Skinner, Assistant Chief of the Lawrenceburg Police Department, has opted for retirement.

Skinner, who has undergone back surgery since his retirement became official July 1, was honored by members of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Council during their regular bi-monthly business meeting Thursday morning.

Mayor Keith Durham, along with other council members, offered their appreciation and congratulations to Skinner, thanking him for his many years of dedicated service.

Lawrenceburg City Administrator William McLain pointed out one example of Skinner’s excellent character, saying, “On his last paycheck we overpaid Neal…we didn’t even realize it, and may never have caught the error, but he called us himself to say we had paid him too much…He’s a good example of that old saying about doing the right thing even when nobody’s looking.”
