Attempted Murder Charges Issued In July 4 Shooting Incident

   A Lawrenceburg man has been charged with attempted murder in the wake of a shooting incident that occurred on July 4.

   Officials with the Lawrenceburg Police Department reported Wednesday that Jackie Phillip Lester had been incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center on one count of attempted first degree murder.

   Officials said that the shooting occurred at a Lawrenceburg residence where Lester had become engaged in an altercation with James Aaron Taylor, age 27. They report that, "Shots were fired from Lester as Taylor tried to get away."

   Taylor sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand/arm area. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medication Center in Nashville for medical care.

   Police officials indicate that during an investigation into the shooting detectives were able to collect evidence from the scene. While executing a search warrant they were able to locate the weapon believed to have been used in the shooting.

   In addition to the attempted murder charge Lester was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He was jailed under a bond of $110,000.

   Taylor was scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on September 5, 2014.
