Beekeeping Workshop Scheduled

Press release/ Calvin Bryant

Interest in beekeeping is on the rise. The frequency of calls that come into the Extension Office regarding beekeeping is also on the rise.

Whether your interest is in using the honeybees as pollinators for you crops or you have a sweet tooth for honey, beekeeping can be a very rewarding hobby or small business.

To assist folks who may have an interest in beekeeping the UT Extension Offices in Lawrence and Wayne County have planned an educational workshop titled “Getting Started In Beekeeping” for Friday, July 25th from 6-8pm at the Wayne County Extension Office. UT Extension Apiculture Specialist, Dr. John Skinner will be the featured speaker for the evening.

Whether you are just thinking about getting started in beekeeping, have just got started or have been beekeeping for several years, Dr. Skinner should have some very timely and informative information for anyone who attends.

There has also been a lot of local interest in forming a “Beekeepers Association” in the Lawrence and Wayne County Area. This meeting would offer an excellent opportunity to spend a little time with participants to discuss this potential endeavor.
