Resident Confronts Man Littering In Creek

A local resident reported to authorities on Friday that he had confronted a man who was littering at a creek, but that he had left the area without cleaning up.

The resident reported to deputies with the Lawrence County Sherriff’s Department that he had been at his workshop on Richardson Road when the incident occurred.

He reported noticing a silver Dodge truck with a recliner in back, heading toward the low water bridge. He said he heard the vehicle stop, then heard the sound of the tailgate slamming.

The resident indicated that he got into his vehicle and drove toward the bridge, but met the driver on the roadway. He told the man he “knew what he had done,” but he appeared to be undaunted.

He allegedly told the resident, “If you want to get the recliner out of the creek, go get it.” He then sped away.

The resident was able to obtain a license plate number and provide a description. He told deputies he wanted to file a police report so that he could pursue charges for littering.
