Old Florence Road Resident Arrested For Growing Pot Plants

A resident of an apartment complex on Old Florence Road was arrested Sunday on charges that he was growing a number of pot plants in his back yard.

Lawrenceburg Police Officers made their way to the apartment after obtaining information from a confidential source, who reported the plants were being grown at the address.

When they knocked upon the door and it was answered, officers report that marijuana smoke billowed forth from inside the apartment. When they asked the resident about the smoke, he allegedly told officers he was “smoking a joint.”

Officers report finding a burning marijuana cigarette lying on the coffee table. When they questioned the resident about any other contraband on the premises, the resident reportedly told officers that he had several marijuana plants growing in the back yard. He explained that the plants were for his own “personal use.”

While at the apartment, officers report seizing five marijuana plants, a marijuana roach, rolling papers, .5 grams of marijuana, scissors, and a homemade bong.

As a result of the incident the resident, Torris Gene White, 33, of 1245 Old Florence Road, was issued citations , charging him with crimes that include:  manufacture of marijuana, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

White is slated to answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on August 7, 2008.
