Resident Summons Help Against Aggressive Dogs

Police officers were summoned to a Granddaddy Road home Tuesday after residents found themselves unable to fend off aggressive dogs.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the home around 3:00 p.m. when one woman attempted to leave and the dogs chased her back inside.

When they arrived, deputies report seeing two dogs exiting the yard of the complainant. They chased one deputy into the driveway, then back into the yard of their owner.

The resident indicated this has been an on-going problem. She said it is nearly impossible for them to walk to the mailbox and that her six-year-old child is not able to play in the yard for fear he will be bitten. She indicated this was not the first time she had called upon police officers for assistance.

Deputies made their way to the home of the dogs’ owner. One deputy reports that when he exited the car, he said the dogs attempted to bite him. He was unable to make contact with the owner at that time.

Deputies advised the victim about how to obtain a criminal summons against the dogs’ owner.
