Fire Victim Reports Belongings Were Stolen

A Summertown man told law enforcement authorities Tuesday that in the wake of a fire at his home, thieves have stolen many of his belongings.

The victim, James Matthew Allen, 32, summoned Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies to his house at 131 Locker Road, Summertown on Tuesday. He reported that his home had burned approximately one month ago, and that he has been staying at another location.

In his absence, a neighbor reported seeing a man in a blue, late 70’s model GMC truck at his home, loading up his belongings. The victim stated that no one had authorization to be at the home. He indicated that the cause of the fire remains under investigation, as well.

Allen reported that the perpetrator stole some $4,200 worth of old coins and cash along with all his appliances and scrap metal. In addition, he stated that the individual stripped all the copper wiring from the house.

Losses are estimated to total some $6,400.
