Money Left For Mail Carrier Reported Stolen

Money that a resident had left for his mail carrier was reported stolen during the weekend.

The victim reported that on June 25 he had placed $500 in cash inside a money order envelop, to be picked up by his mail carrier that day. He said that later in the day he sent his son to retrieve the envelop, but that there was no receipt or cash inside.

The victim reported that he spoke with the mail carrier who indicated he “had not picked up a money order this week.”

The mail carrier told deputies that he had noticed a man acting suspiciously who had been walking in the area of late. He was able to provide them with a description.

The victim told deputies that he had also noticed a theft from his property the week before. He said that 35 gallons of gasoline had been stolen from a 55 gallon drum behind his home. The week prior to that, he said he had noticed at night that someone was shining a flashlight at his house.

Investigation into the matter is on-going at the current time.
