Woman Airlifted Following Riding Accident

   A local woman was airlifted to a Nashville hospital Tuesday evening after being thrown from a horse while riding at Laurel Hill Lake.

   Witnesses at the scene reported Leigh Ann Adams, 24, of Lawrenceburg, was riding horses in the area of the dam at Laurel Hill Lake with her father, Bill Adams, when the accident occurred.

   Adams’ horse apparently bolted, throwing her. Adams was thrown into a tree, sustaining head trauma, as well as injury to a finger.

   Bill Adams explained, “I took off running, calling for help. A fisherman heard me and he came over and got Leigh Ann in his boat and brought us across the lake to the Bait Shop.”

   Emergency personnel quickly responded to the scene. Adams was given preliminary medical attention, then transported by ambulance to a makeshift landing zone. From their she was flown Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

   Following the accident Adams was responsive, however she was scheduled to undergo testing on Wednesday.
