Assault Warrant Leads To Drug Arrest

Law enforcement officers serving a warrant at a Spring Avenue home arrested a second man on drug charges.

Lawrenceburg Police Officers went to the 893B Spring Avenue home of Leon Delvon Cole on June 22 in order to serve a warrant for assault, Lawrenceburg Police Chief Terry Shay reported Friday. According to Shay, “Cole initially tried to evade law enforcement, but was apprehended in the living room of the residence without further incident.”

While they were inside the home, Shay reports that officers noticed drug paraphernalia lying in plain view, including “items used to consume cocaine.”

While officers were inside the home, they indicate that Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Investigators arrived, and informed them they had information indicating that a quantity of cocaine was being stored on the premises.

Officers obtained permission to conduct a search of the home and report finding approximately one ounce of cocaine inside a spare bedroom. The cocaine, they report, had been packaged in one gram increments for the purpose of resale. Also seized was a pair of digital scales.

According to Shay, Christopher Alden Joyner, 27, claimed ownership of the cocaine. He was subsequently charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance for the purpose of resale.

Also found during the search were five tablets believed to be Ecstasy, that had been concealed inside the glove compartment of an automobile parked in the driveway. Cole, Shay reports, claimed ownership of the tablets and was charged with possession of a schedule I narcotic and possession of drug paraphernalia, in addition to the initial warrant.

Cole was placed under a $61,000 appearance bond while Joyner was placed under a $25,000 appearance bond. Both are scheduled to answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on July 6.
