Residents Finds Stolen Grave Flowers At Another Cemetery

A Leoma woman reported to law enforcement officials during the weekend that she had located flowers where they had been deposited at another cemetery, after having been stolen from a loved one’s grave.

The woman reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies Saturday that the floral arrangement, for which she had paid $70.00, had been stolen from the grave of family members inside Oak Hill Cemetery on Big Oak Road, Leoma, on Saturday, June 20, 2009.

The victim indicated that she had been advised by another individual to check at Bumpas Cemetery, on Bumpas Cemetery Road in Lawrenceburg, for the stolen arrangement. She stated that she went to the cemetery around 6:15 p.m. and discovered it had been placed on a grave there.

The matter is currently under further investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information that might be helpful in the investigation is encouraged to contact the department at 762-3626.
