Another Sex Offender Arrested At Hope Springs Park

For the second time in around a week law enforcement officials have arrested a registered sex offender who was allegedly in close proximity to children at Hope Springs Park.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department indicate that authorities were alerted to the situation by a concerned citizen. The individual called to report that another group of people at the swimming hole in the park, situated across Shoal Creek from David Crockett State Park, were drinking beer. In addition, she reported that she had recognized one of the men as an individual listed on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Sex Offender Registry website.

Officers made their way to the park and report making contact with Jack Wade Armstrong, 49, of 108 Gallaher Boulevard. They quickly confirmed that Armstrong was, indeed, a registered sex offender. Officers report that “there were numerous kids swimming in close proximity to where he was.”

Armstrong was subsequently placed under arrest on charges of violation of the sex offender registry. He was transported to the Lawrence County Jail where he was booked, with a bond of $5,000.

Armstrong is slated to answer the charge through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on August 6, 2009.
