Charges Pending In Drug Case

Charges are pending against a Lawrenceburg man after police officers discovered a significant amount of marijuana, along with the supplies to package it, locked inside a safe at his home.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department went to a home at 1010 Crowson Road last week, explaining to the couple who resides there that they had received information regarding drug activity at the home.

The couple agreed to allow a search of the premises. Officers note that the male resident admitted he had smoked marijuana earlier, then handed over a marijuana grinder and two marijuana roaches.

While searching the home officers report finding a locked safe in a rear bedroom. They requested that the male resident open the safe and he complied. Inside, officers report there was stored some 106 grams of marijuana along with rolling papers, digital scales, plastic baggies, and five glass pipes.

All contraband was seized into evidence. Officials indicate that charges will be sought through the Lawrence County Grand Jury against resident Joey Lee Powell, Jr., age 25.
