Driver Backs Into House, Then Flees

Law enforcement officials report that a driver backed into an Ethridge home early Wednesday, then fled the scene of the accident.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 101 Lincoln Street home Wednesday in connection with a crash. When they spoke with the resident, he stated that he had been awakened by a car engine restarting sometime during the night.

The resident discovered the damages to his front porch area when he started to leave around 4:00 Wednesday morning.

Reports indicate that the porch of the home had sustained some $2,500 in damages. Deputies indicate that a driver had apparently backed up, striking the porch, then fled the scene, heading west on Lincoln Street.

Deputies located a maroon spoiler and marker lights that had apparently been ripped from the suspect vehicle during the crash.

Investigation into the incident continues through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who might have information regarding the crime is encouraged to contact the department at 931-762-3626.
