Church, Garage Fall Victim To Burglars

A Lawrenceburg church and automotive repair business fell victim to burglars overnight Tuesday, resulting in considerable losses.

According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department officers were dispatched to investigate a burglary at Vandiver's Garage on Buffalo Road around 6:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Reports show that burglars had pried apart some trim and metal siding beneath a window, shattering the window in the process. Inside they caused damages to a laptop computer and an antique Lance vending machine. Altogether damages totaled around $2,000.

Reports show that the break-in occurred sometime after officers checked the building at 4:00 a.m.

Officers made their way to the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Buffalo Road a few hours later. The pastor and church secretary reported arriving to find that a desktop computer had been taken from the church office.

The culprits made entry through a window on the north side of the building, in the sanctuary. There, those responsible had disconnected computers and sound equipment. A lighter and water bottles had been discarded in the sanctuary, as well.

Officials were uncertain whether other items had been taken. They reported they would conduct an inventory to determine total damages and loss.
