Kentucky Man Assaulted By Bat Wielding Girlfriend

A Kentucky man sought attention at Crockett Hospital on Sunday for injuries he said he sustained when his girlfriend assaulted him with a baseball bat.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were summoned to a parking lot on Springer Road around 3:30 Sunday morning to intervene in an altercation.

The victim, Robert Solon, Dowden, age 20, of Fort Knox, Kentucky reported that he and his girlfriend, Kimberly Keeton, age 24, of Loretto had been arguing while she was driving.

He said that after she stopped the car she slapped his face, then retrieved a baseball bat from the rear seat and used it to strike him in the mouth and nose.

Emergency medical personnel responded, rendering medical aid to Dowden. While he declined to be transported to the hospital at that time, deputies report that they were dispatched to the same location just before 5:00 a.m. when he did request transport.

Deputies spoke with the Keeton later when she came to the hospital. They report that she admitted she had slapped Dowden and struck him with the bat. She told them, however, that Dowden had placed his hands around her throat and shoulder.

As a result of the investigation both Dowden and Keeton were arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. Both were booked under charges of aggravated domestic assault.
