Officers Called To Intervene In Dispute With Weapon

Lawrenceburg Police Officers were summoned to intervene in a dispute Friday afternoon when a witness noticed one of the men had a firearm in-hand.

Officers sent to Beckham Avenue at 3:15 p.m. where they spoke with witnesses as well as residents of two homes, who had been involved in the dispute.

Reports filed through the department show that residents of 1407 Beckham Avenue had been driving past #1415. The driver reported she was driving and that her boyfriend had been looking out the window at a four wheeler as they passed, but that the resident began to yell at them and an argument ensued.

When they pulled in at their home, the couple said the man, still arguing, walked toward them in an aggressive manner with his hand behind his back, all the while making threats against their safety.

The boyfriend said he then stepped inside and retrieved his BB rifle. He told officers that he held the gun at his side and at no time pointed it at anyone.

The second man involved reported the same basic information, however he said he had no knowledge that the rifle was not real. He told officers when he saw the firearm he returned to his porch. He reported that the action had placed him in fear.

No charges were filed in connection with the matter, however officers did advise the neighbors on steps that could be taken to avoid any further problems.
