Officers Find Marijuana Growing In Flower Bed

An anonymous tip lead law enforcement officers to a Loretto home Monday, where they found marijuana growing in a flower bed.

Drug agents with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department made their way to the 107 Horn Avenue home of Ronnie Chaster Hollis, age 62, around 8:00 p.m.

They explained to the female resident that they had received a tip, indicating that marijuana plants were being grown in a flower bed next to the back porch. Officers report they did seize plants from the area. In addition, the female resident handed over a plastic bag that contained approximately three grams of the substance. Drug paraphernalia was also seized from the home.

Deputies report that Hollis claimed possession of all the items. As a result he was issued citations charging him with the crimes of possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of marijuana.

Hollis is scheduled for an initial appearance through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on July 13, 2009.
