Sheriff Offices Will Go To Four Day Work Week

Lawrence County Kenny Taylor announced Thursday that offices inside his department will be changing over to a four-day work week in early July.

The change, Taylor said, is being made in an effort to cut budget costs, as well as in an attempt to help employees with out-of-pocket fuel expenses.

“This will not affect our service to the community, response time or anything like that,” Taylor explained, “It will affect office personnel only.”

The shortened work week is being implemented on a trial basis. Taylor indicated they are uncertain whether the change will create a great savings within the department, however he feels that his employees will greatly benefit from the decreased driving requirement.

The new office hours will go into effect on Monday, July 7, 2008. At that time office personnel will be available between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
