Stolen Lawnmower Found On Wrong Porch

A Lawrenceburg resident who found that someone had placed a lawnmower on his porch during the weekend soon learned that it had been reported stolen.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were called upon to investigate the matter at a Maple Avenue address on Saturday. The resident reported that sometime after 2:30 a.m. someone had placed the mower on his porch.

A neighbor was able to identify the owner of the 21" Snapper push mower. Investigation revealed that the mower had originally been red, but had been spray painted black.

The owner's son reported seeing a neighbor using the red mower the previous week. He said that when he asked about the mower the man using it denied that it was stolen. He said that later in the week he noticed that the mower had been painted black.

When officers questioned the suspect he told them that the mower he had used belonged to his father. Officers note that they spoke with the father, but that he told them he did not own a push mower.

The mower was returned to the proper owner.
